Help with pracs in forensics option

I really need some more information on the chromatography and electrophoresis practicals in this option.

My friend from another school recons we should've used paper chromatography to seperate the components of leaves and used multiple mobile phases.
We just used ink dots and water for the mobile phase... What other mobile phases should be have used and what components would be separated in leaves??

In the electrophoresis practical it failed miserably and our teacher never gave us any notes/ sheets actually on it and I've basically forgotten most of what we did. What equipment was needed? What mixture should have been used for the electrolyte/buffer solution? and what mixture should have we separated?

Re: Help with pracs in forensics option

mobile phases used include methylated spirits, kerosene, acetone, water

chlorophyll is separated, you get a red band, yellow band and green band -------------------- ask some biology student what they are, because i don't know.

we didnt do an electrophoresis prac ... :S

edit: just realised how old this thread is.
