One idea for the future exploration of Mars is to palce a communication craft in low Mars orbit (LMO). It would receive data from an array of probes exploring the Martian surface and relay them to Earth

a) Calculate the orbital speed required to maintain a craft in a LMO at a distance of 300 km above the surface of Mars (mMars = 6.6 x 10^23kg; rMars = 3.4 x 10^6)

Use:
Vorb = √(GM/r).

M=
6.6 x 10^23kg
r= 3.4 x 10^6+300 x 10^3
G=6.673 x 10^-11

I get

v=3450 m/s

but you should check that I haven't typed in the wrong numbers in the calculator.
