explain the concept of escape velocity in terms of the:
- gravitational constant
- mass and radius of the planet

I know what escape velocity is, just don't know how to explain it in terms of those things. Can someone help?

I think they are basically asking for a equation.

GPE + KE >= 0 for V> escape velocity.

-GMm/r + (1/2)m(v^2) >=0

v>= sqrt(2GM/r)

(which is the escape velocity)


so you can BS:
The escape velocity is the minimum velocity that an object must have to depart a gravitational field permanently

The escape velocity of a planet(from it's surface ofcourse) depends on the mass and radius of the planet and does not depend on the object (ie is same for objects of all size)

the relationship between escape velocity, mass and radius of planet is:

which stats that the escape velocity is inverse proportional to the square root of the radius and proportional to the square root of the planet's mass.
