Put simply, when there is vegetation it stablise the soil from erosion (from wind and rain), however when the vegetation is removed, the soil looses its stability and protection from natural forces (wind and water). So basically vegetation acts as a shelter for soil, once it is removed, the soil is subjected to more erosion. |
