    HSC engineering studies 2014 MC Q10 solution?

    Im not sure how to get to the answer which is B Capture.PNG

    The neutral axis runs through the section of the bracket that experiences no stress or strain through its plane, hence you can use that to work out the length of the sheet metal required. It's simply the average of the 12.5 and 20.5 radii, which is 16.5. The radius of 30 is already given.
