Hey guys, I'm having a bit of trouble with this one dot point. I know I'm probably looking at it the wrong way but can someone please explain this for me?!

EDIT: Also this one: "signal generation by the transmitter"

Organisation of packets at the interface between source and transmitter

A packet is given its own header and trailer containing data specific to the protocol operating at that layer. This may also include error detection codes and the address of the receiver.

Signal generation by the transmitter
the physical hardware that creates and/or encodes data onto the medium to create a signal. eg fax machine, cable modem, network interface card
