The Search for Better Health Challenge Question 3

In this unit, you have developed a general understanding on genetic resistance in pathogens and how it helps in the spread of diseases. For example, drug resistance in bacteria - the development of superbugs.

One of the mechanism behind drug resistance is selection (leaving resistant individuals behind to proliferate). Another mechanism is bacteria exchange genetic materials.

Question 1 (Difficulty 7/10)

How do they exchange genetic materials?

Question 2 (Difficulty: 10/10!!)

Can we stop the exchange of genetic materials in bacteria??!

Re: The Search for Better Health Challenge Question 3!

Transposons are commonly associated with eukaryotes, like human cells, but not in prokaryotes (bacteria and archaea).

Re: The Search for Better Health Challenge Question 3!

are you sure its snot transposons... jumping genes...transposable genetic elements ???
coz all the biology hsc text books point to the fact tgat other than affect the genome of the organism they also allow genetic resistance to spread amongst bacteria
