How on earth do you assess the reliability of a photograph??? yeah u can write maybe one sentence on whether it looks staged but really??? Help please!

Does the photo come with a caption? What does the caption say? Does the lighting reflect anything? If it is staged, is there anything in particular that you need to be looking at? If it isn't staged, then what is it saying?

Example - photo of a woman working in an artillery factory.

There are shells in the background, well organised. This suggests that the process of shell production was coordinated and organised. The woman is not wearing gloves, however the powders that went into shells were often bad for a persons health. One example of this is TNT poisoning, resulting in 'canary girls'.

And that's just the start of that.

Another good one is does the information in the photo corroborate with other information that you have on the subject e.g. the photo mentioned above of the woman with the shells in the background corroborates textual references to woman working in munitions factories and the fact that the whole country was on a total war footing.
