How does the English Standard course define "Into the World" and Texts & Society?

Can someone give me the rubric/course explanation for "Into the World" and the actual module "Texts and Society"...

As for what `into the world` is, one of our english teachers came across this;

INTO THE WORLD: This elective examines how various texts represent stages of growing up and maturation. This is a transitional phase, marked by new challenges, opportunities and relationships. It has long been described as a `rite of passage`, a time of change and adaptation from one world of experience into another. The process can offer knowledge, understanding and insight as well as more arduous and difficult consequences. The worlds that can be encountered are varied and people the world over, cope with the pressures of moving out `into the world` in unique and individual ways. Students are required to respond to and compose a range of texts that demonstrate the many different pathways that are available.

which kinda sucks, cause how the hell are we ment to compare texts which demonstrate `the many different pathways that are available`...
