I'm pretty sure it was A, but the MC answers thread is making me doubt myself :\

I could post my explanation but I'll wait for someone who actually has their wits about them to post.

Because the one on the negative electrode is the one where electrons are being released, which is oxidation. So I figured that the one on the negative electrode oxidised more easily. And it said in "increasing" order. So the least was on the left.

Can somebody smart and good at chem plesase confirm this?

Arg can someone PLEASE put up a proper explination as to why it is A or D. I said A because I thought X was the most oxidised, though since it's negative.. ah stuff it, someone else explain it please!

my reasoning was:
negative terminal is the anode where oxidation occurs so from standard table of reductions x has reduction potential of 0.22 V and oxidising potential of -0.22 V. from same sort of thing y has oxidation potential of 0.97 and z has 2.47 so puting them in increasing order gives d
