| Re: Skrzynecki help Felicks Skrzynecki
This poem explores ideas about cultural belonging, especially the difficulty of creating feelings of belonging. Feliks cannot automatically feel at ease in a different country. Spiritually he still belongs to the country that shaped him, even if it no longer exists as it did. The poem also highlights the tension between the generations because of the difference in these feelings. The boy is more than willing to accept the new country and surrender his Polish heritage. There is also the idea of family belonging. There is clear affection and respect for Feliks despite the conflict as the boy grew older. |
