Good Luck! But you really should be looking to write 4 pages (6 HSC exam book pages) which should equal about 900-1200+.

It depends on how fast you can write, meaning you should do some practice runs and count how many words you can write in 45 minutes and take an average of your results.

i can do about 1400 in 45 mins. Most people can do anywhere between 1000-1600.
In the journeys paper, you get about 40 mins for each section, so i'd say try to get at least 1200 words for each section.
If you dont write at least 1000 words, its virtually impossible to get top marks.

I write around 1500 words per advanced essay and around 2000 in extension. Apparently (so says my teacher) that's not enough! Oh well that's my maximum haha

In 40 minutes i can write 1200-1300 words.
2000 words sounds write for an hour- your teacher doesn't think that's enough?! i don't think it is physically possible to write more than 2500 (at the most) in an hour, for extension. Taking into account neat, legible writing.

Last wednesday we had a english advanced assessment. The girl in front of me stopped writing, and shook her hand, and it went 'crack crack crack', then she went on writing. I know people, where their hand starts to cramp real bad.

1500-1600, if fully memorized. I had to do that for one of my assesments today. Good ol’ adrenaline didn't make my hand fully cramp.

I hate writing so much. My entire right hand starts to hurt after writing for 30 minutes continously. I wish I can use my left hand as well. I usually shake my hand out or stretch my fingers and go on writing with the pain. By the end my wriitng gets really messy.

I'm ambidextrous, but I've broken two of my left fingers and fractured my wrist from an accident a fortnight ago, so I won't be able to use both hands for my trials... I hope that is can heal by the hsc, buh with hsc only about 3months away, I doubt it'll get better by then.
Anyway, I usually use with my right hand so I write slightly faster with it. If I only use my right hand then in 45min I can write approx. 1800 legible words. If I use both hands, 1910? it's not that much of a difference. When I change hands, my writing changes slightly too.... =.=" teachers don't like it coz it breaks the flow of my writing.
