2008 Chinese SL Written Exam

You can hide this advertisement by registering.
For those who did Chinese SL, what did you think of the 2008 written exam?

I thought it was harder than the previous exams probably because they shortened the listening comprehension and added translation into the exam.

I also found that story about the frog and the turtle a pain... I was sitting there during reading time going, "Wtf?"

EDIT: What essay topic did everyone do? Just out of curiosity...

Re: 2008 Chinese SL Written Exam

looking back now i prob lost 1-2 for content for the essay (i did the last one), all the other bits were good! i've actually heard of the fable we were given before ..like 2 years back..lol ..but i was confused at the end when we had to tick a box -i chose the one about the ignorant turtle, not 100% but sure it's not the dreaming options, it's either the last or the first one. I found it pretty ok, wouldn't be surprised if many people scored highly in this exam tho...

Re: 2008 Chinese SL Written Exam

iamnerd, I wrote Thursday & Saturday morning. I think they only asked for the days because they didn't provide any other information... Did they?

With the question where you had to tick the boxes, then would the answer be, "A frog's dream" or something like that?

Re: 2008 Chinese SL Written Exam

That listening question only asked when she CAN work and not when she WILL work yea, coz i only replied when she can work =/

And i ticked a frogs dream but i have a feeling its wrong maybe i was thinking too deep =/ I was thinking that the frog had a dream to visit the outside world.. but accidental meeting fits that extract more appropriately. fingers crossed or a frogs dream tho =x

Re: 2008 Chinese SL Written Exam

What did you guys think of the reading section about Mr. Li? I thought the questions were really broad and I sort of felt like I didn't know where to start answering. That said, I managed to answer all the questions and I'm hoping they're right. What did you guys write for each question -- what you can remember, of course.

Re: 2008 Chinese SL Written Exam

^ yea i get what you mean, a few questions were a lil iffy of what what we were suppsoe to write but i wrote everything that could've been the answer. the first one i basically put down what was given in the last paragraph coz i thought it was a lil vague. His way of learning chinese was easy. Then i put everything to do with his family in the one asking what were his family's relation to china.

BTW, how did u guyz find the translation bits? i thought it was pretty good...prob best part of the exam

Re: 2008 Chinese SL Written Exam

Yea the Mr.Li thing was a bitch! But like shadez did i wrote everything! huge huge blobs of anwsers haha xD The trouble with that is there were no marks indicated for each question so u dont really know how many points to give =/
I agree the translation was easiest! anyways u guys really shld stop worrying about chinese and start enjoying my holidays!
