13 Nov 2009, 6:41 PM ![]() | Re: Is it hard to get a 40+ study score? I disagree. It isn't that hard if, 1. You are naturally good at the subject and 2. If you genuinely like/have a passion for the subject I got a 48 for IT in year 11 last year and am hoping for a high 40 for another IT this year and low-mid 40 for BusMan. In all three subs I have got straight A+ never loosing more then 2-3 marks on a SAC. A I am yet to study for any of the three either. For me I like them enough to either have prior knowledge of the coursework (IT) or listen and soak up every word the teacher says in class (BusMan). So no, I don't think it's that hard. 50 is a different story, it's soo hard not to make that one or two little mistakes in the pressure of an exam. |

22 Sep 2009, 11:36 PM ![]() | Re: Is it hard to get a 40+ study score? I'm not sure how worthwhile this discussion is because everyone's perception of what is "hard" or "easy" is different. Hard to someone who cares nothing of Year 12 may mean turning up to class. Hard for someone who is incredibly motivated may mean finding an exam they can't do every question. Also, it's too simplistic to use "40+" as the benchmark for doing well in a subject. If we're talking raw 40s, a 40 in design tech or bus. man cannot be compared with a 40 in something like latin or spec. maths where the mark up is much higher. I think a more valuable discussion would be something along the lines of "How can you maximise your mark in a subject?" I totally agree with the above post that: To maximise your mark it's imperative to choose subjects you enjoy. It's near on impossible to work for subjects you hate if you're tired, irritated or have something else on your mind (which is the case alot of the time in a busy year) Getting a 50 is incredibly difficult. It is so tight at the top in most subjects that dropping a mark means dropping a study score ie from 48 to 47. I found the best way to counter silly mistakes was to make a list of the ones you make regularly a few days before the exam so you can remind yourself to watch out for them when the real thing comes round. But... It's probably not fair to give the impression you don't have to do any study at all if you like the subject. Often prior knowledge isn't enough but it's true that if you like it, you won't feel like you're studying (in terms of grinding through your work) |

20 Nov 2009, 6:08 PM ![]() | Re: Is it hard to get a 40+ study score? Depends on the subject, if its a joke of a subject like BM, Legal etc. then a few marks here and there will knock you out of the 40s. I got 40's in most of my subjects and they were all relatively easy scale-down subjects filled with the "not so caring students".
