Yesterday, 9:45 PM ![]() | Re: 3 maths Doing three maths is generally allowed at most schools I'd say, however, if your teachers are like mine, they'd recommend that you don't do all three. Half of your week would be devoted to maths subjects, which kind of shows lack of variety/flexibility in your subjects - if one has to be in your bottom 2 anyway, why not try something else? Or, if you're really that keen in maths, you could always consider muep or umep maths. You'd get credits for doing it while you're in year 12, and it looks much better on your transcript. (I'm assuming that you're quite good at maths because you're considering 3) |

22 Oct 2009, 12:07 PM ![]() | Re: 3 maths Yeah, I did Further and Methods last year, and this year I'm doing Spesh. But the thing is, i did better in Further than i did in Methods (by quite a few points), and i heard from my teacher that you can't have both Further and Spesh in your top 4. Can someone prove/disprove this? But yeah, I wouldn't do 3 maths. Many people may think that Further is just for dumb people and fail to realise that if you are decent at Maths, that's like a 40+ handed to you on a silver platter. A lot of it is just year 7,8,9,10 Maths anyway. |

14 Oct 2009, 3:59 PM ![]() | Re: 3 maths further and spec are like the same coursework for year 11 so i think thats why you cant have both in your top 4. but it would be handy to do further maths in year 11, so you have an extra subject that you could do good in, so then if you stuff up in spec, then you can fall back on that.

16 Oct 2009, 1:27 AM ![]() | Re: 3 maths I did it, although if your good at maths and dont intend to do it at uni do the methods/further combo. not worth the effort for spec. actually if anything I recommend further34 at yr 11, if you dont get required mark then do methods+spec yr 12. Spec+methods go well together |
