Is it possible to receive a high enter score without a tutor?

Is it really possible to receive a high enter score (95+) without a tutor?
What are the pros and cons of having / not having a tutor?

i think tutors are over-rated, not worth the money, i had one and u really don't get much out of 1 hour a week that u cant do yourself

Re: Is it possible to receive a high enter score without a tutor?

I'd encourage tutors for a subject with material that is very obscure and that you've never come across before. Tutors are most effective when they're teaching you a concept you don't understand. There's no need to have a tutor that will nurse you through your studies and make sure you are revising, that should be up to you. Even when concepts are obscure, buy (or borrow from a library) an alternative textbook which might explain things better. I use the Nelson Chemistry textbook at school but find the Heinemann one much more useful. If all else fails, get a tutor.

To answer your question, yes, of course it's possible to get 95+ without a tutor. More than half of the people I know that got 99+ at my school in the past few years never had a tutor.

Yes It is possible to get a good ENTER without a tutor, I didn't have a tutor/ I was thinking of getting a tutor for Methods when I did it in 2007, cause I sorta sucked at it but then it was pretty much pointless since I knew it wouldn't really contribute much to my ENTER (I was banking on getting 43+ for Eng, Legal, ITA, BM, back in year 11) but yeah for Maths/Science subjects tutors can be useful.

Re: Is it possible to receive a high enter score without a tutor?

yes, if you understand everything and study properly (do all the questions in the textbook should be sufficient, and at least 10 practice exams for each subject (done properly and timed, not as exercises))
