Law vs. Law/X @ Monash

The law enter is 99.3 at Monash (straight law)

The enter for a double-degree with law and something else is less than 99.3

I've been told this is due to popularity alone. Is this true? What advantage do you have doing straight Law over a Law double-degree?

Probably impatient students who know exactly what they want (ie. a law degree, nothing else) and who are wanting to finish their law degree and get straight into the workforce?

Isn't that how ENTER works?

Okay. Thanks.

"Isn't that how ENTER works?" No clue, that's why I asked.

I had some feeling because the entrance score is higher that the workload is more demanding and there'd be more benefits. Guess I was wrong then. Didn't know "impatient students" were in the majority.

Well, I meant it more as a statement. Yes that is how ENTER works. If less people applied for a particular course, its ENTER would be lower.

No actually, I would go so far as to say there is more benefit if you complete a double degree, rather than just a straight law degree. It'll give you more options later on, if for example, you complete a comm/law degree, it might give you a more well-rounded understanding of the industry if you got into something like banking law or corp law, you know what I mean.

As for workload, you'd still just do the same workload in terms of number of subjects per semester, so it should technically be the same whether you do a straight law (4 law subjects per semester) or double degree (2 law and 2 subjects from the other degree). Of course, double degrees are usually a year or two longer than just a straight law degree.

But if all you ever wanted was to be a lawyer, then the straight law degree will get you there without having to do another degree, if that was all you cared about.
