Somewhere between 75 and 100 (out of ~27,500) people get a 50 in Further.
Also note that after scaling a 30 in Specialist (top 50%) is better than a 40 in Further (top 9%).
And while taking Further over Specialist may not limit your course choice that much, it limits your unit choice in most BSc & BE courses.

Im choosing Further over Specialist. The amount of time and effort spent on Specialist is just not worth it, especially for someone who gets easily fustrated like me.

Re: A 50 in Further Mathematics

I got a 50 for further last year, and I was maybe ranked 6th or 7th in my year level. Teacher marked me down for not showing any working, and the likes. Though I did get a 40/40 for exam one and 59/60 for exam two.. So the main thing is your exam, not your sacs..

Re: A 50 in Further Mathematics

Well the exams are over. These were the results I've gotten:

SACS Rank 1 - 99%
Exam 1 - 39/40
Exam 2 - 59/60

What are peoples thoughts? Do I have a chance at the magic 50?
Any responses would be much appreciated.

I would think either a 50 or 49, depending on how the rest of the state went, but i would be feeling very confident if i were you...

As for me i got 40 and 54 on the exams, decent sacs, reckon i would get a 40SS or where abouts??
Responses also much appreciated

Thanks. I would be a lot more confident if i had gotten 100% on that first exam though.

I reckon with those results anything between 40-45 SS.

I just think its so unfair with the whole module thing. Some modules are of much more difficulty than others, yet they are all weighted equally. It blows big time!

Re: A 50 in Further Mathematics

I would say at least a 48.

Hopefully we are in the running for 50, as previous posters have lost 2 or 3 marks in exams and managed to get a perfect score. If you need perfect papers to get a 50, then that just stinks!

Re: A 50 in Further Mathematics

I know this topic is about a 50, but was wondering if others agreed with me that i should get a raw ss of around 40. Exam 1: 36/40 (3 stupid mistakes), Exam 2 : around 55-57/60 (all of them were silly mistakes >.<).

SAC results were probably at an B+/A level (though i would believe that my school sets harder SACs than most...). Putting my ranking in the top 20 or so..

Furthermore, how many more marks could i lose on exam two for it to still be approximately 40 raw? Going by last years standard, a 36/40 was an A+ and a 49/60 was an A+ for exam 2. However, it seems likely that the A+ cutoff will be higher for exam two this year..

Also, i agree with dachamp for around a 48 raw ss for wrx69er..

Re: A 50 in Further Mathematics

bellsy i'd say you could pull off a 40. its your sac ranking that brings you down, if you were ranked 1-5 then i'd say 43 but yeah...good luck anyway i hope you get the score that u want

Thanks, was thinking along those lines. I'll just have to wait until Dec 14th to find out though.
