I have a passion for communicating my knowledge of the subjects I tutor to my students, but sometimes in large classes it becomes too difficult and impractical to ensure that every student is receiving enough attention and having their learning style attended to. This is why I want to start private or small group tuition now, because I believe to get the most out of tuition, you need someone to focus on how you learn individually.

WHAT I HAVE ACHIEVED

I'm a first year Monash University student completing a Bachelor of Laws/ Bachelor of Engineering.

I am the dux of Melbourne High School for 2008, graduating with an ENTER score of 99.95 (total aggregate 210.2).

This year I am tutoring in English, Physics, Chemistry and Maths Methods. My study scores for these subjects were:

English - 50
Physics - 49 ----> 49.58
Chemistry - 47 ----> 48.88
Methods - 47 ----> 48.91

I also achieved the highest SAC marks for English at Melbourne High School, winning the subject prize.

HOW I CAN HELP YOU

English

The nature of English tutoring is different to that of the sciences, since students need to do more than grasp the concepts or facts of the subject. I will help you develop the techniques of writing sophisticated text response and language analysis essays, and help you identify the important themes of the texts you are studying. I never dropped a mark on SACs throughout the year and I have numerous high-scoring example essays to directly show you the techniques you should apply.

The most important skill in text response is developing the ability to analytically interpret texts and having your own opinions on the themes and issues of the book clearly outlined and understood well before the final exam. These are the tactics that I employed and by following a similar method I am certain that you will be able to attain high marks in this area. By putting in the work in understanding your texts NOW, you will relieve yourself of major stress and study burn-out at exam time. It may take a day to read a book, but it will take weeks understand everything it has to offer.

The context section of the English curriculum is vague and confusing for students and even teachers. Last year many schools were unsure of how to teach this section, and students were underprepared for this section. I understand through experience the best approach for the context section and how students can achieve good marks. I will teach you how to respond with depth to the prompts - the key is addressing the big picture AND the details at the same time.

Last year I studied Hard Times and Citizen Kane, as well as the texts for the Whose Reality context. I have read a number of other texts on the VCAA list so I should be able to help all my students with the themes and issues of their individual texts.

A good English score is essential for a good ENTER score, and getting a 45 is quite possible for all those who are willing to put in the work, practise how they approach all essay types, and put the effort into truly understanding their texts.

Chemistry, physics, methods

The sciences are also my passion which is why I am offering tutoring in Chemistry, Physics and Methods. For these subjects I have prepared many notes for my students as well as practice questions and tests. The fact that I am continuing my study of all of these subjects through my Engineering course will also ensure that I will retain a good knowledge of the concepts taught in year 11 and 12.

In year 11 and 12, I made very extensive notes in every science and maths subject, often doing my own research to understand the concepts at a deeper level. I strongly believe that the students who achieve the highest marks in science subjects do not simply memorise the facts - they understand the fundamental principles behind them.

All my notes are very logically structured and I never shy away from giving my students very difficult questions that are designed to test their ability to apply concepts to previously unseen contexts and extend their knowledge. On the final exams there will always be one question that will come from left field - make sure that you have the understanding there to deal with it.

TIME AND LOCATION ARRANGEMENTS

I prefer to teach in the State Library on weekday afternoons or on Saturday. If you live near to Monash Clayton or in the Brighton/Sandringham/Moorabbin area then I may also be able to come to your house or meet you at a local library or other location.

I can do both individual tutoring and groups, so if you want to reduce costs by organising a group with friends then that also works. Please message me on here or send an email.

I will be charging $40 per hour for one-on-one tutoring - this will include detailed notes and practice materials, as well as correction and feedback on all practice essays/tests you want me to look at. For groups of 2 or more, I will charge $25 or less, depending on how many students in the group. I don't wish to teach any more than about 4 students per group.

Hopefully I'll be tutoring you soon!

hey i am very interested in your tutoring how cani find you!
