Re: 2009 Geography!

hey
in yr 11 this year, geo my first 3/4
love it
ahahah though i prefer human geo - population etc, i like the topic -even in the murray darling basin, though ive grown to almost hate the riversystem
anyways up to this point had SAC 1 part a (case study /40) and part b (tests over 2 periods - each /30)
so total = /100
and our teacher told us the score vcaa get is half that
so /50
and im sitting well over 45, though no 50
thats pretty good but i was more pleased in the test result rather than case study and since we get to do the case study in our own time too that was really surprising.. i was quite dissapointed in that
hoping to get 50 this yr! idk geo is an easy subject? but after the sacs i realised it IS hard to get 50 coz its tehre that it becomes attention to the miniscule details which is easy to miss
but im gonna work hard and hopefully get really high!

the next SAC-local resource thing - was a park for me, h'bout you ?
it was /50 for which i got a perfect score =) so i was really happy

does anyone know how i can get 50 as a raw score?

Re: 2009 Geography!

I'm a year 11 doing 3/4 too.

I hated the MDB stuff, it was just too dry (he he) and I found it hard to relate to because I'd never been to the MDB region (city girl ) so it was hard to get my head around it all.

I prefered doing the local resource stuff, much easier to do and I enjoyed the creativity part (we did lots of drawings, maps, future planing etc) <- did everyone do this? Different schools do different places but we just did like the local area and parklands, pretty boring though.

Overall, I think I'm doing pretty good in terms of SAC marks.
SAC 1a was presentation - 100% (but the lowest mark was like ... 94%)
SAC 1b was a test - 98%
SAC 2 was case study/test on our local resource - 95%

All my marks have been the top from my class of around 17 students and I'd say it would be up there with the general Geog cohort of the school. I'm hopinh for a score of 44+ but you never know with geography. Not many inner city schools do well on it and my school hasn't had a 40+ in a while... it really comes down to the exam :S

Does anyone know what global phenomenon they are focusing on for Unit 4?

Re: 2009 Geography!

Desertification is really easy for us, we're doing as our case studies; Owens Valley and the Aral Sea.

It is vital that you know a good definition of desert and desertification. Going by previous SAC's and Exams thats where many people are cought out, its basic but many people overlook it.

Re: 2009 Geography!

I am so worried about this exam.
Last year the highest study score in my school for Geography was 29.
