plan and perform a series of investigations to determine the effect of compaction or tracking on a soil

We have to do this experiment for soil compaction... and i have no idea how to test it.
Does anyone have any ideas??

this was an exam question last year - 2 suggestions
make two trays of dirt and get people to walk in one, or another method in the field look at two areas one of which is compacted - pretty easy to find in a school since students tend to walk off the paths a lot !!! but you can also try parks especially with all the rain erosion will be everywhere !!

We did multiple tests:

Have one pot compacted (pushing down with a fist) and one non-compacted
Then pour 100mL of water through the soil, and time how long until the water is no longer on the surface. It takes longer for compacted soil

Also density
Put soil in pot to a certain mark (so the volume is the same in compacted and non-compacted pot) and then pill another pot to that level with water (if pot has holes in bottom, put a plastic-bag liner in first) and then calculate density (mass(g)/volume(L)). The compacted has a higher density
