Whether it's good or bad depends on what you're really trying to get out of tutoring.

Class tutoring tends to go through the course again so it's most suited for people who have some idea of how to do the maths, but are not really on top of it and cannot be bothered reading the book themselves. It's also good because these programs tend to have more extensive notes (but a good tutor should have good notes too - just that they're not easy to find). For these students, any form of tutoring is good because they don't really know much anyway - so they'll find that they can learn something all the time, regardless of class or private tutoring. So you should obviously choose class tutoring since you're learning and paying less.

Private tutoring, however, is more tailored. It's most suitable for a few different sorts of people. The first sort is the geniuses who know the course really well. They don't need to go to tutoring class because class is a waste of time for them - they already know all the standard questions. They don't need notes because it's all in their heads. What they need is practice in difficult things, not practice at siting in a class with people who don't really know what's going on and doing the average questions. The second group of people are those who are struggling so much that they can't even follow a tutoring class. These people really need private help because no mass-produced commercial tutoring is going to save you. The last group of people are those who have specific problems in specific areas (eg they don't really get the unit circle). In this case a private tutor can take them through that etc etc, while a class tutoring will go over that quickly and if you're still not keeping up after repeated explanations, the class will move on.
