Ok so I've just made a creative writing piece for my upcoming half yearly exams. I was just wondering if it was required to have 'discovery' as an ongoing theme in the creative writing?

Because in my story I've kind of described a series of events leading to a physical discovery at the end, and it ends in a cliff hanger.

Is this alright or does 'discovery' have to be an ongoing theme?

I think you can have it at the end but th rest of the story must be relevant, e.g. characterisation.

Do not leave your story on a cliff-hanger, this is not a drama series, you should aim for a definite ending to your story, otherwise you will be scoring badly simply because we don't see character transformation from the start to the end of the story.
