IT'S ONE CORE TEXT (OR AT LEAST 2 POEMS IF THAT IS YOUR PRESCRIBED TEXT), 1 BOOKLET TEXT AND THEN RELATED TEXTS DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER THEY ASK YOU FOR. IF IT SAYS TEXT(s) THEN YOU CAN DO 1 OR MORE, IF IT SAYS TEXTS YOU HAVE TO DO 2 OR MORE AND THATS IT. NO SECOND BOOKLET TEXT

Whats all this about 2 stimulus texts?

You only have to do 1, you'll never be asked for 2, in fact if you used 2 stimulus and 1 additional and they asked for 'texts' it would be wrong

Also you are supposed to have 2 additional texts but everyone thinks that they'll only ask you to use one, because having to discuss that many texts means that you cant use as much detail, and also cause last years question only asked for 1, but its much safer to prepare for 2.

Thanks for all the questions too!!!

Re: Possible Exam Questions

My trial that I received 12/15 for:

Section III

The Board of Studies is reviewing the selection of prescribed texts in the Area of Study The Journey.

In a letter/email outline why you believe your prescribed text is an appropriate selection for the Area of Study The Journey and should be retained as a text within the specific focus of wither Physical, Imaginative or Inner Journeys. You should include a discussion of the text's ideas, which expanded your understanding and how these ideas are represented.

Make connections with other related texts includeing ONE text from the prescribed stimulus booklet, Journeys, and at least ONE other related text of your own choosing to justify your argument.

Unhappy Re: Possible Exam Questions

is there only one form the can ask use to write in in section two? ie- just a creative writing piece not a speech, transcript etc etc

i have never seen in any hsc paper, trial paper or simulated paper asking us to write in a particular form.

They can specify the creative response, i.e. "write a speech", "write a series of journal entries", "write a letter", etc.

Re: Possible Exam Questions

Some past Area of Study essay q's:

"The journey leads to greater understanding"
-Discuss how this greater understanding is represented by composers in different ways

"The journey, not the arrival, matters"
-Discuss this statement, focusing on how composers of texts represent the concept of journey

"Any journey includes both realities and possibilities"
-To what extent do the textx you have studied support this idea?

-To what extent has studying the concept of physical, imaginative or inner journeys expanded your understanding of yourself, of individuals, and of the world?

"Every journey involves change and transformation"
-How has your understanding of the nature of the journey been shaped by the texts you have studied?

"Any journey always has some obstacles to overcome"
-How has your understanding of the nature of journey been shaped by the texts you have studied?

Re: Possible Exam Questions

For this question:

+"We will build new ships to carry man forward into the universe, to gain a new foothold on the moon and to prepare for new journeys to the worlds beyond our own"
Compose a pice of writing that explores a journey of discovery.

Do we acually have to write something about space travel???

No, the question says "a journey of discovery". This could be interpreted literally (i.e. physical journey or finding something in the backyard, etc) or figuratively (i.e. inner journey, imaginative, learn something new about yourself, etc). Space travel is not an issue, it is simply an example in the stimulus quotation.

Re: Possible Exam Questions

they wouldnt include it in stimulus quote if they didnt wnat u to at least refer to it. its just like if they had a quote in section 3, and the actual question doesnt refer to the quote, ur still expected to refer to it in ur answer

Yes, I'm aware of that. I was explaining that as well as incorporating the stimulus provided, it does not need to be limited to a "space journey".

The quote says
Quote:
...to prepare for new journeys to the worlds beyond our own
which can be interpreted in many different ways. Writing about a "space journey" is a very superficial interpretation of the question.
