Software Development 2008

Who is doing SD this year? How is everyone finding it? Right now it feels like a repeat of IT last year, plus a thousand more cycles/methodologies/stages that I have to remember.

Re: Software Development 2008

Guess not many people are doing it this year.. heh.

Yeah we've got a similar outcome coming up - analysing an existing networked information system.

Re: Software Development 2008

I dunno, I find the course interesting as a whole - including the systems stuff
But yeah, would be good to start the software engineering side soon.

What programming language are you using, btw? We're using VB.net, bleh.

Re: Software Development 2008

Besides the programming I find the subject pretty boring. For me its really just a subject I cramm-teach myself.

Well, my school's doing PHP... (Hope my teacher won't come up with another 70 slide powerpoint to teach the class, one was enough...)
BTW, what is everyone up now? (I feel like my class is going very slow...)

Nice, I wish we were doing PHP

We've finished Area of Study 1 (Systems Analysis and Design) and should be starting Software Development when Term 2 begins.

You should be jumping in joy, I can't name an easier & more powerful language to learn. Not to mention it's extremely wide-spread.

Re: Software Development 2008

well, all I have done in PHP (well last year) was just making html forms and getting things back, nothing flashy...
Wish schools could teach AJAX..

Re: Software Development 2008

That wasnt too bad. I couldnt figure out the friggen algorithm question.

I would consider this a tad bit harder then the 2007's exam, especially the multiple choice!

Re: Software Development 2008

Yeah i agree, multiple choice was shit, wasnt impressed. Also did you find that you could answer purely logical responses rather than specifically IT based answers? I hope so.
