And if you are, what's your theme, and how are you gonna explore it, like painting or sculpture? And is anyone finding it hard to keep their folios up to date, whilst not neglecting their other subjects? |

| Senior Member | I did studio arts 5 years ago. My theme was seascapes which was more into the general idea of place. I had a chance to work on my folio perhaps three times a week, and we always had one double period a fortnight. I tried to keep my folio full of inspiration and work on my annotations, and I found it hard to do the actual going out so my seascapes would have the extra life touch. If you like I could show you some of my theory and practice work and you can know the quality (or lack thereof!) of some of my work. At that stage of the year I worked on seascapes based on the human hand, and also a project on the Melbourne aquarium as I was exploring marine life at that time which I enjoyed. I liked making characteristic fish. Maybe you could use the Commonwealth Games as your inspiration if you are doing something about the sea. I was neglecting English and Geography for Theatre Studies and Studio Arts, so that's not all that bad. In the first semester I would have said Literature was my best subject. And I gave Studio Arts as much work as I could during the Private Studies we had. I brought my folio into the library (very big folio by then!) and home during the first term. Did hardly anything! Enjoy Studio Arts, everyone! |

7 Nov 2006, 9:00 PM ![]() | Re: Studio Arts I'm doing Studio this year, but I'm sick of my theme, which is the 1960's. Oh well, mid-year slump I guess. I'm doing screenprinting and mixed media. As far as other subjects go... well, I guess I really don't care about them that much. I do more work for Studio than anything else. |

27 Jan 2009, 8:47 PM ![]() | Re: Studio Arts ahhh ok, i've never heard of studio arts-computers, sounds interesting. I'm doing studio arts -painting and drawing. So far I've done a lot of trials experimenting with facial features and using diff techniques to show emotion. I'm trying to combine realism and expressionism throughout my design process. I've done a lot of collages and combined materials a fair bit. I guess I will explore will paint application and how it can create emotion, whilst layering on areas of realism, i dunno lol. Mind you I want to take some photos and play around with them on photoshop too. What is studio computers like? Wow 20 pages of inspiration that's heaps! I've done about 10-11 pages of inspiration and about 25 pages of trialling. I've found that I am just adding inspiration as I go along too. Like different paintings or pictures I find I just stick it. How do you annotate your trials? |

I think u annotate by saying how you took it, with what, what did u do with it, what will u do with it, what you're hoping to do with it.... etc. =] | |

| Assistant Member | Re: Studio Arts Woh, a while back I asked if anyone was doing Studio, and then I never actually checked back for responses. I spose we've all got our folios in now... but I'm focusing on how people's experiences shape their identity - working primarily in oil paint and found objects (and canvas). Hmm, I ended up dumping my A3 plastic pocket folio for two A4 bound books (potential solutions and explorations) and one B5 bound book (for my inspiration). How'd everyone else's folios go? Feeling confident? (I can't wait to get the thing back...) => Jess |
