My class is being externally reviewed

I got 100% for both units so it better not change!

Re: Studio Arts

How much are we expected to write for the extended response in the exam?
I struggle to keep in time because there is too much to say, especially if tomorrow's exam has 6 questions.

hope study is going well for all!!!

Re: Studio Arts

Wow, the exact same thing happened to me! Went from an A+ to a B+ (missed out on an A by a mark!). But it was more because our teacher (grrr) had told us to outline our potential solutions IN OUR WORKBRIEF which completely stifled the development process and was creatively restrictive. That was in Unit 3. Our Unit 4 stuff was also re-assessed.
__

that happened to me also. perhaps the course guidelines werent very clear...
i lost 8 marks in total.

still not sure if my unit 4 folio was externally re-marked by the VCAA,
i will find out tomorrow.

to the other person who asked about the VCAA remarking - they came at the end of unit 3 and marked our design process work & focus statements.

Bill Henson is the obvious choice; i dont know anyone who ISN'T studying it.
best i revise; i forgot all about it.
do we need to quote from someone like Andrew Bolt?
(i hate that man. his writing is always so smug-sounding)
articles for evidence; i only have 3 from the herald and one from the age....
*googles more*

Re: Studio Arts

i thought of quoting bolt but i can't find a nice succint sentence which summarises the conservative view on censorship.
all i have is his sensationalising bill henson.

Re: Studio Arts

that's the only view i can find; bolt's sensationalising of everyone who defended henson's work.
the best thing i can find is "those who are defending "very good art" may soon be promoting very bad pornography"
bolt also said "pornography can also be art"
lol; what??

Re: Studio Arts

conservative view: they're kids; they're nude, he's a pedo.
contemporary/realist view: they're not being portrayed in a sexual context.

thats the best way i can summarise the positions of each side on the issue.

Re: Studio Arts

It's probably too late to ask (the eleventh hour!) but does the art industry issue have to be confined to Australia? Because I was planning on doing the San Francisco Art Institutes closure of Adel Abdessemed's artworks depicting animal cruelty, but it just occurred to me that perhaps it has to be a local issue. My teacher is crap, hence I have no idea.

Re: Studio Arts

So how did we all go this morning?

I'm surprised there were so many optional things!

Re: Studio Arts

Yeah same....it as like you could pick the whole exam lol. I was a bit peeved with the extended response that it only had cultural contexts and not historical. Didn't matter though cos they gave so many options.

Did you like the unseen artwork? I did the first one...it had a lot to talk about

I thought it was really good though. I was rushing a bit at the end to make
sure everything sounded alright but overall a really good exam.

How did everyone else go?

Re: Studio Arts

I loved that it had so many options! I got a bit carried away with the two artists essay at the end so I had to rush some of the questions, and my analysis was utter tripe, but overall I think it went okay! =)

Re: Studio Arts

I actually really liked this exam.. it had simple and short questions. The last extended response question was good how you could choose what you wanted to write about.. I got carried away and wrote 8 pages (I needed a script book lol!).. Although.. I didn't have an INTRODUCTION of my two artists.. I just started with my first artist.. talked about them for 3-4 pages and then talked about my second artists for 3-4 pages.. you didn't need to compare them did you? I sort of had a conclusion with the two artists combined but I had to rush it cos I did it within the last 5 minutes.

Re: Studio Arts

I loved the exam. I had enough time to write at least a page for every question over four marks... many many pages for the 8 and 10 mark questions, and I feel I've covered just about any point I was prepared to cover.

I liked that you could pick, but then making the exam flexy doesn't just make it easier for me... and it might actually make it harder to get a high mark if everyone did well? Cos stupid mistakes carry more weight...

but anywho, in a good mood. Legal was pretty smooth as well!

do you mean you wrote an EXTRA page in a script book for every question?? or you just completed all the sections in the amount of lines given? cos if you wrote an extra page for all the questions WOW! How did you have time!

Lol, no not an extra page in the script book. As in for most questions Ifilled up the lines and then used the script book, and most of the questions must have totalled a page worth.

I did write quite a lot though, more than the lines for even the short ones. I wrote the lines and then a script book page for that conservation question for some reason. Filled up all the lines for the analysis at the end, then two pagesish in the script book, whatever that works out to.

Re: Studio Arts

does it matter if you just keep going down the page if you run out of lines? i did that for every question!

the essay took me 25 minutes and i used 3 pages of a script book!

except i struggled to find 6 or 7 seperate points for some questions, even the analysis in question one. i started talking about materials and techniques because i was getting pretty desperate! i think i even wrote the same point twice about the background for the second picture, once at the start and once at the end. ahh crap lol
