18 Nov 2009, 2:48 PM ![]() ![]() | Re: Section 2 - Vce Exam Pissarro and Streeton. We studied more obscure artists for post-1970 but as a class we're like... meh, let's go the easy route for that section. Our frameworks were visual analysis, symbolism and historical context. |

18 Nov 2009, 2:48 PM ![]() ![]() | Re: Section 2 - Vce Exam Oh, I wish we'd studied Peter Booth. I've been fascinated with his paintings since I saw the exhibition at the NGV. I find Pissarro dull as well - no matter what my teacher says, they're just a lot of pretty chocolate-box landscapes - but nonetheless there's a lot of good historical analysis to be done with his works, not to mention symbolism. |

You don't quite grasp how enormous and striking his works are until you walk in and bam, there they are, the size of the wall. Something's definitely lost when you see them in a book. Fintona Girls' in Balwyn. You? |

I never found time for Picasso Actually, there's a whole lot of stuff I want to see but I'm always just that little bit too late. |

9 Feb 2009, 6:40 PM ![]() | Re: Section 2 - Vce Exam I've studied pretty predicatable artists really. Francisco de Goya & Albert Tucker for pre-1970 & Peter Booth & Tracey Moffatt for post-1970 In our class, we choose our artists individually (I'm the only one doing Moffatt!). It sounds like a lot of schools, each student studies the same artists? |

16 Nov 2008, 8:49 PM ![]() | Re: Section 2 - Vce Exam hey we studied Sidney Nolan and Olive Cotton for Pre 1970's and then Fiona Hall and Ron Mueck for Post 1970's i actually really enjoyed all of these artists the only problem was that for Nolan, the work we studied in sem 2 was a quite unusual 1, and we ran out of time to talk about it all together so i still dont fully understand it our teacher said for question1 of section 2, to talk about semester 1 works, and for question 2, use semester 2 works it works really well as well anyways best of luck |
