9 Oct 2009, 11:17 PM ![]() | Re: need a bit of help with art theory - if you want a pretty good overview of it, go to the board of studies website, search around until you find the syllabus for visual arts and it should have rundown of conceptual framework and art practice etc. in there... or it might be in one of the support documents- http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au...alarts_syl.pdf hopefully that works but its there and free and online. conceptual framework is a way of understanding how the art 'world' works and looking at artworks. the art world can be seen as being made up of four 'agencies' that are all linked and interconnected:
leo da vinci, a popular artist both during his own time and within the European tradtion of art (artist) upheld renaissance ideal of perfection in beauty (world part of framework) in the illusionistic tradition of the time. the high level of realism is able to be achieved by the use of slow drying oil paint technology that had recently been invented, allowing da vinci to employ sfumato brushwork to create a sense of threedimensional form (both world and artwork- visual elements). It is da vinci's legendary profiency and skill in bruskwork and illusionism, evident in this painting, as well as the mysterious appearance of the female subject that continues to enthrall audiences within contemporary 21st century western society. (audience) <---- bad example of using conceptual framework...>< in the theory exam for hsc, therell be at least one part in question one where they will ask you to use conceptual framework. in section two, there will be either three or four essay questions that youll need to use conceptual framweok to answer. but since theres ten essay questions in total and only one you have to pick then you can steer clear of them if youre still not comfortable with it by then... this is pretty confusing at first- my explanation is pretty bleargh... but check out the syllabus thing. definitely helpful. definitely will help with understanding ocncenptual framwork, the other four frames and idea of art practice. have you asked your art teacher about all this theory stuff? hope at least some of above was helpful ^^ |
