How many people am i competing for a UAI??

22? since 22 people get 100. thus 22 people get 99.95, 99.90 etc...??

If the increment of 0.05
how many people per 0.05??

well if you look in Pigs' 100 thread you'll see that because of rounding 100 is allocated to those who are the top 99.76% of the state. 99.75-99.36% then get 99.95 etc etc...So there should be half as many ppl getting 100 as there are on any other increment. To demonstrate, there were 42 ppl who got 99.95 last year.

However there may be more on some and less on others, depending on how many people are at the same standard. Theory would go that the middle UAIs e.g 70 would have more ppl on them than on 99+ ( i think...?)

I'd say that'd be about right. The aggregates are (meant to be) normally distributed. Median ~ 66.

Well, your really only competing against ~42,000. Because quite a large proportion of people who do the HSC don't ask for a UAI.
