If I ranked 5th in advanced english in my year group, but i dont do as well on the HSC (ie not completely bomb out, but just not get a mark that one who ranked 5th would normally get), does the scaling etc work so that I am assured some kind of decent mark? People have said that it means I get the 5th best mark in my year group on the hsc itself, but i dont think thats right. What would happen?
Thanks

you will get the 5th best mark and the mark that YOU get, after it has been aligned and moderated. the marks are added together and divided by 2, and that will be your final mark.

So the 5th best mark in the HSC and the mark I get in the HSC and the average of those? So that results in my HSC mark, and that goes together with my internal mark (after they do all the moderating etc) to give my final mark?
