I heard schools moderate the marks a bit, before sending it into the BOS.
But after they submit it, do the marks stay the same or does it change according to the external mark?

What would happen if a class did better externally than internally, will the internal marks be raised because the average externally was higher? therefore would the internal marks change?

Schools may do some tweaking of the marks but they must maintain the ranks and gaps between students.

These marks are then submitted to the BOS who will moderate the internal marks to the external marks earned in the exams. These marks can be moderated upwards or downwards depending on how the cohort does in the exams.

e.g. if a school sends in a range of marks 40 - 90 and the students get marks ranging from 20 - 50 then the assessment marks will be moderated down to reflect that exam range. Conversely if the exam marks range from 60 - 95 then the assessment marks will be adjusted to that range of marks.
