This is bugging me,
Im doing 2 unit mathematics and over the year i was ranking preety good but overall I got a scaling of about 22/50 (school mark)

rank 7/10

BUT lets say I get 82% on my hsc maths test

What happens next? What is the final mark and band i will get ?

THanks a million =)

Depends so much on how your cohort goes and how much 82% scales up (or down).

It really depends.

What if your cohort is like uber good at maths? Would that benefit me greatly?

Only if you're coming average or possibly top 70-80%? If you're at the bottom then no, your cohort won't help you.

You have to remember with HSC marks practically noone gets less then 50 so somehow they need to get the numbers all above that. However there is no way to say what a raw mark will go to as they dont release this info.

Depends what the 7th ranked person in the external HSC from your school got.

really? so if i get 82, and the person in the exam that got the 7th mark of 60, that means i get 60?

Man this is sooo confusing...

no it meant u will get 71.

You get half your mark and half the person that got your rank in the externals mark.

actually i'm also interested in how 2u maths gets moderated (ie. raw mark to hsc mark) but i don't suppose anyone has any credible information on that

raw marks are used to moderate internal marks. the hsc mark is how well you've match the criteria for each band. then ==> Hsc mark + internal /2

I think. I got this info from the myths about UAI seminar at one of the open days. credible enough?

As a guide.. in 2004, 94/120 was scaled to 90/100 (ie Band 6)
