will a ranking of 1/10 in a disreputable school like alexandria park have the same affect as a ranking of 1/10 in consistently academically high achieving school like fort st?
like do they adjust the atar mark by looking at how the school does in previous hsc exams?

I don't think so no, just for estimates on this site.

And I think Fort St. did badly last year.

It's based on the performance of your cohort in the HSC external exams for THAT year. The performance of your cohort in previous exams does not affect your ATAR at all.

But, ranking 1st any school just means that you will receive the highest external HSC as your internal assessment mark (internal assessment + external HSC mark/2 = overall assessment mark). However, ranking 1st in a "better" or higher ranked school means that you have more of a "safety net" if you screw up.

The only reason was ask for your school rank on this site is to make estimates more accurate.

What Anna said is completely fine. Take the advice and run for it :)

Good luck in your HSC final exams.
