hmmm, I want some professional opinion on this case:

Person 1 in my school (UAI 94.90)
Maths Ex1 91
Maths Ex 2 86
English ESL 85
Chemistry 78
Biology 90

Person 2 in my school (UAI 96.45)
Maths Ex1 87
Maths Ex 2 82
English ESL 88
Chemistry 76
Vietnamese Continuier 91

What went wrong here?

the uai are very close... proly only 5 scaled marks between them in total maximum.

ESL english should be the main factor here...

let me illustrate this with the stastics, this year: 91 hsc mark gets you 92 scaled mark, while 84 hsc mark gets you 76.

this is a significant drop in scaled marks in that range, so the 3 extra hsc mark could've given the 2nd person an extra 10 marks.

and the rest of the subjects cancels down to about 5-10 scaled mark difference in favour of the 1st person.

so in the end is very close as indicated by the uai. :)

The aggregate (total of the scaled marks) for Person 1 is about 415, and the aggregate for Person 2 is about 417.

I'm pretty sure the aggregate is what determines the UAI, so you can see that Person 2 would get a higher UAI.

Edit: Aggregates based on JUAISeek

yea thats what i was thinking...aggregate determined significantly to uai
although im still suprised with the
biology vs vi3t... which i would of thought vi3t would be a really low scaled sub

But that's only 2 units. And remember the scaling of 4 U maths and Chem from person 1.
