Hi everyone,

I'm just a little bit confused about how marks would be aligned. The subject in particular is visual arts. My aim for my end HSC mark is 94.

I'm in 2nd place with 93, and 1st place is at 94/95.

Say for example he got 91 externally, and I achieved 94. Would my new internal be 91 + 93 / 2 = 92 and then he gets the average of 94/95 and 91? Or will the relative gap between us raise my mark up? What external would I need to get a 94 HSC mark considering I'm in 2nd place? Sorry if these are dumb questions.

Furthermore, what would the raw band 6 cut off for VA usually be?

Your internal mark has very little bearing on your final HSC mark, because only the gaps between marks are used to moderate the marks your cohort gets in the external HSC exams, unless your school has very similar marking standards to the actual HSC, it is best not to rely on internal marks as a guidance for equating to external marks. Basically just wanted to emphasise that your current 'internal school mark' will not necessarily be your 'internal mark' that counts towards your final mark.
