For example the subject business services has a max mark of 47.0/50 and a scaled mark of 42.4/50

Would this mean that a 42.4/50 RAW is equivalent to a 47/50 RAW for the HSC Exam?

Thanks in advance :haha:

It means a 47 is scaled to a 42.4.

Scaled marks aren't really comparable to aligned marks by the way.

Almost all HSC subjects "scale down" for most marks if you consider it that way. But scaled marks are essentially arbitrary, what matters (when discussing scaling at least) is how they scale relative to other subjects.

Also, you are confusing aligning with scaling. Aligning is done by bostes on raw marks. The UAC scale raw marks and then release a report with data on how (a linited set of) aligned marks converted to scaled marks. There is little public data available on aligning, particularly for low cohort subjects, as you need to pay for your raw marks.

I heard generally, your raw mark is a fair amount lower then your Final HSC mark regardless of the subject.

Yeah, that's true - at least for most of the range of marks.

But that is raw mark to HSC mark which is aligning, not scaling.
