Hi there,
In the HSC your top 10 units are used to calculate your ATAR, majority of students have 5 subjects with a total of 10 units during HSC.
Would having 6 subjects which formed a combined 10 units be beneficial to my ATAR in any way?

HSC Subjects:
Std English
General Mathematics
Modern History
Biology
Studies of Religion 1
Ext History

No benefits. Since your ATAR is calculated from your top 10 units, all six of your subjects will be counted towards regardless of how well well you perform in them.

You English will count and then the next best 8 units which means that it is possible that one of your two unit subjects won't count, or one or both of the 1 unit subjects mightn't count. Remember that Ext History can count as one of your top 10 units even if the two unit Modern isn't one of them. You only have to do either Modern or Ancient - it isn't a case where to have Ext Hist count so must the 2 unit course.
