argh that sucks. I got my sms and email about 1 week after my application. I have heard that mac bank is really quick with denials so I don't want news too quick My original first round interview was on tuesday but they double booked and moved mine to thursday... but even still, my offer for first round was a week after the closing date. I think its safe to say we have no idea how they've arranged it lol... maybe its alphabetical?

but that's what i heard, plus its the Funds Management Group (FMG) which you didn't seem to mention...my alternative theory is that they must have had some pretty shocking interviews at the start if they are still sending out first round interviews...but i doubt that, my 'dear john' email came pretty quick to be honest, then again accounting and economics, i was asking for it

hahaha nah im doing finance, just im doing all of it next year cause im doing a com/ec double degree

i came to my senses these holidays on what to do for my third major...to late now though

yeah, im jealous of that degree at unsw, i want 3 majors. still, double major at usyd is better than like macquarie, they tend to only do singles which is madness.

forgot to apply to anz and nab, was very foolish of me. they dont hire that much ppl anyway tho do they?

I applied for CAG at Macquarie..got a psychonometirc test tomorrow..argh...a bit worried..don't like the idea of them picking apart my personality >.<

Anyone else been throught the second round? Why does it take three and a half hours to complete this assessment? Will we be asked to work in groups to work on a case study, give presentations etc?

wow doin the psych test so soon... I just had my first interview hahaha.... My feelings are that if I pass first interview then I'm fine with the rest. There's a practice version of the psych test on macs website if u can find it. can't remember where anymore but I have a hardcopy printed out. you'll do alright.

anz isnt bad, they hire 6-8 which is the same amt as any other bank

Yeah i had a look at the sample they put up...still nervous though...

Read up a bit on the financial press, they asked me if i was up to speed and what publications i was familiar with..then they asked me specifically what i had read! Was kind of shocked by that one lolz

They also asked about what subjects you like or dislike and why, and they want you to give them an idea of what you studied in that subject...that one got me too...a bit nervous i guess lolz

Ask them questions as the end, something like 'why did you choose macquarie' etc my interviewer seemed really keen on asking that one

i have my first interview with citi this week

i am so nervous.. i really want it, but i doubt i will get it unfortch

however, when everyone says research a company, what should i know? everything?

just look up their website, plus perhaps some company profiles in various databases. Know what they do and think about what you can do to satisfy their needs. Look for their corporate strategy and their values. Talk about how you meet those values. Look for their recruitment goals (e.g. are they looking for passionate leaders, are they looking for 'the best of the best', are the looking for people who want to work with them for a long time).
