I've written the attached composition portfolio to try and help students to enjoy doing their compositions and to try and reduce stress levels about what to put into the portfolio.

I would love some comments and additional ideas from both ppl who have completed their compositions and new HSC students just starting. :)

Here are some of my suggestions:

Goal setting:

Perhaps in each journal entry, students should state what short term goals they hope to achieve by end of the week. At at the end of the journal entry, students should state what they have achieved, and what tasks are still pending.

This really just tells the teacher that the student is making progress.

6 music concepts

Students should analyse their own composition drafts under the 6 music concepts:
Pitch, structure, texture, expression, tone colour, duration. And to see if they have thoroughly developed each of these concepts in their composition
