I'm trying to really nail down my performance pieces for my HSC's and am really starting to stress because I can't seem to find stuff that I love. I really like performing jazz and swing stuff, and I've looked into various bass soloists such as Victor and Jaco and Marcus and Stanley and stuff, but haven't found pieces that I think 'Yeah!' to yet.
I am thinking right now of doing 'The Chicken' by Jaco Pastorius and maybe 'Stomping Grounds' by Victor Wooten, but haven't any other ideas for my last two.

Help is appreciated! I'm open to a lot!

Charnett Moffett - Swing Street.
Something jazz, blues, Latin or funk.
A good tumbo baseline should be okay, if there is a bass solo/impro in the piece.
Something funk with lots of syncopation and a solo/impro.
Also show off as best you can, e.g. slapping and popping, slides 'flicking', etc.
My dads a music teacher and he says that you should choose a piece a bit beyond you and work until the HSC to get it.
You really need to either have learnt the pieces or start learning them now.
I play sax and I have six Charlie parker pieces to choose from, some jazz standards and I have just started two new pieces that I should have ready by the HSC.
Have you thought of doing a composition?
