reasons why my parents are freaking amazing: they go on business trips frequently and don't care if i have parties, i have no curfew, anyone (boy/girl) is allowed to sleep over in my room, i can drink their grog, they don't mind cigs/weed, they pay for my rego/petrol for my car... will think of some others. i think my parents are pretty chill compared to some others i've seen.

I got divorced parents, and now more than ever they both seem to be trying to be "the more lenient one". I assume I'm allowed to do most things, but I don't do anything that bad. I hardly go out on weeknights, and can't really predict how they react if my partying habits suddenly increased in magnitude.

My Dad has a wierd fixation with hair though... he used to give me a commando-cut himself. Now, maybe in response to that, I like my hair relatively long. At least 100 times longer than how it used to be, which actually isn't all that long.

Mine aren't that bad, but they have some strange opinions on some things. And they don't understand the HSC at all, so I have had to start ignoring everything they say about school because half of it is just so out there I can't help but laugh at it.

same for the hsc thing ill ask a question then theyll answer it rlly weirdly and ill try not to laugh and tell them that it has nothing to do with the question then they'll get all cranky and be like why'd you ask and walk away (usually resulting in silent laughter or wth)

a few weekends ago it was saturday and my dad said you haven't been studying much for school go study then the next day my mum said i dont give a stuff if ur doing two of your hsc subjects this year (accelerated) you have to stop doing so much study and help out with the housework

bit off topic but probs had some relevance

other than that my parents are rlly strict bedtime restricted to 9.30 at the very latest i usu. get sent to bed 8.30 to 9 depending upon h/w; no boyfriend; no going to ppls houses w/o parental approval/parents knowing the ppl, all the usual strict parent stuff

Well I don't live with the rents any more so yeah (Best decision I ever made).
Back when I did, things were a tad ridiculous i.e.:
- 1/2 hour internet/computer usage per day
- Couldn't have friends they didn't appove of (so I had 3 "official" friends)
- Boyfriend? What boyfriend?
- 90% in ALL subjects or else
- Got grounded for the most trivial things i.e. not scraping plate after dinner
- Bedtime 8pm
- No going over friends places/them coming over my house
- That meant NO PARTIES
- Bedroom door open at all times (I mean, why have a door then?)
- Closing the door meant you were doing something naughty /illegal, and therefore worthy of extra attention (not good) and possible punishment.

Of course I still love 'em It's just easier to love your parents when you are barely around them and they lay off a bit

Made it all the way to 18 without ever having a curfew or being grounded.

As long as they know where I am/who I'm with its all cool.. and that I'm able to contact them (vice versa) in some way.

I bet super strict parents were on either end of the spectrum when they were teenagers and this is an effect of that:

a) they too had super strict parents and its all they know

OR

b) they did everything they don't want you to do when they were younger

OR

c) religious.

My mother had a nervous breakdown when I was 16 after my parents seperation, so I did most of the things she would have for a good 18 months, look after my sisters and make sure they went to school, cook meals, clean, etc etc. So once life went back to normal it was kinda pointless to crack down on me when I was essentially a fully functioning individual with out her.
Even before then it was just common sense. Tell her where I was going and who with, let her know if plans changed. Dont do anything stupid or illegal. Ask before having people over/visiting people. Make sure I can be contacted and that she can contact me.

- i have no curfew coz im not evn allowd outta da house
