Gladly to help here. ive worked at maccas for 3 and a bit yrs now n im juz about to turn 18. Ur wage depends if you are a casual worker (which most crew are and so am i), part- time (if u get a set amount of hours a week n its usually at a lower rate than casuals) or full time which has diff rates and advantages again. For a causal worker, wages dont increase after 5 in the arvo, juz if u work after midnite, in which u wood get time and a half... as a 17 y.o my wage is $9.55 an hour n time n a half on a sunday, plus u have to add casual loading which is usually about 50cents for every hour u work, and it can add up ill tell u... i think as an 18 y.o we will get around $10-$11 an hour but im not sure exactly, ill get bak to u on that one. Crew trainers get about 50cents extra an hour, but u woodnt start off being one of those straight away, its something u gotta work towards.

Hope thats helped you and enjoy working at maccas its not like work more a big social meeting... i luv it n hope u will 2!!!

Any other questions just post them and ill gladly respond.

There are plenty of other places to work other than maccas if you wanted to get a job that is worth your time. They pay the base minimum state award wages, i.e. you can get no lower pay without it being illegal.

Most other places will be more than willing to expand on what they are prepared to give you if you tell them that you were offered another job, but were unhappy about the pay amount (or lack thereof).

Personally I would never work at Maccas - it's dirty and repetitive work (I know many people who work there, the common opinion is that it is demeaning).
My working is mon-fri, and I socialise on my weekends. I find it hard to believe also that someone could enjoy flipping burgers for a period any longer than about ten minutes. But that's my personal opinion.

See if you can get a job doing something you enjoy -- have a look around your local shopping centre, they always have staff wanted signs in the shop windows.

i know people who have been at maccas 1-3 years as well.. obviously its not about the pay.. it seems like a cohesive work environment and they must have fun working there
for someone looking for their first job, of course its going to be boring and repetitive! they are unskilled and obviously cant go straight into management or anything.. if u work in a clothes store its always folding, unpacking and serving people.. in a food shop its cooking, cleaning and serving.. in a restaurant its serving and cleaning.. in a supermarket it would just be constant serving, packing or stacking.. all jobs have their strengths and weaknesses but i wouldnt say mcdonalds is the worst
but yeh it is true that if u can show commitment to mcdonalds for an extended period of time (not working there for 2 months and shoving it into ur resume), there is a stronger chance at getting a job, as in the people there should be being paid more but they still stick it out.. its a good indication that you are willing to commit to your workplace

I think Maccas is just perceived to be the worst by stereotypes.. generally the job taken up by 'young pimplefaced unskilled teenagers' etc.. so really it's the same deal with places like KFC etc.

they'd have to really want you for that, with the amount of peopel going for jobs i think most places would tell the person to get stuffed and find someone else.

kekeke i used to work at maccas and it's good in some ways (you get an awesome reference when you finish), but i wouldn't do it again. you'll see what i mean if you get the job. depending on how old you are, bring a recent school report, your resume, an employment related reference and a character reference, and maybe some referees. that covers all your bases. didn't bring anything but i still got the job, it really depends on how much they like you make sure you got no facial hair, short hair, if it's long tie it back, don't stink of anything rank and don't wear too much cologne/deo. pay rate for an 18 yo is $10.90 or something. be uberly outgoing and you've got the job unless you are a crim. speak loud enough so they don't have to strain to hear you. smile HEAPS. as a guy you'd probably end up in the kitchen, unless they think you're super special then they'll put you on front counter or dining room or order taker or runner like the girls. just wear nice clothes, like clean looking and well kept. no overly baggy pants. and make sure you have a question to ask them in the interview-what are opportunities for leadership/advancement etc. make sure you communicate well because maccas is a team and communication is one of the things they value.

outgoing: talk HEAPS but not about random stuff. ie. don't babble. when they say "how are you today" (they will, trust me), use it as an excuse to create a conversation. treat the interview as one big conversation, just relax and act as in you're with friends or something. when you walk in, look at them in the eye, have a firm handshake and smile. also good posture. and look other people you pass in the eye and smile to them too, your (future) manager might see this and it shows confidence.

no problem, that's what repping is for lol ok. my managers used to treat me like dirt, one of them would blame her mistakes on me and then i'd get in trouble with the store manager, it's HARD work (you'll basically be running for the entire shift), i used to get 9 hour 45 minute shifts because if you work 10 hours you get 2 breaks so they'd give me just under so i'd only get one break=5 hours of running before any eating=gave me blood sugar problems, i got sick of getting abuse from customers (on front counter they balme you for EVERYTHING from slow burgers to bad weather). it was fun though because you meet heaps of people and have alot of fun when the managers aren't around (APC fights), and sometimes the managers let you bludge, like one of them would just come up to me and say "why don't you take a break you look tired". one of my other managers would let us eat the ice cream cakes when people would cancel parties. it's easy to offload and get new shifts. but that brings me to a new point that they will give you a shift even if you have an NA in and then expect you to find a replacement. and there's not much reliability, one week you could get 6 hours, one week you get 30. they do tend to give massive public holiday shifts=double and a half pay, which is awesome. get fixed shifts if you can

i worked there for 3 years. i think for an 18 year old the pay is llike 10 or 11 dollars an hour.

just be friendly and outgoing. and you will either work on the front counter and serve customers or else flip burgers in the back area

hehe quitting is easy, you write a letter of resignation and that is their two weeks notice. but they tried to keep on giving me shifts after the two weeks, so i had to explain to them what resigning meant
