99+ UNSW Medicine/Arts Student: English (up to 4U), 3U History and Maths

ABOUT ME

My name is Lawson and after a period of inactivity on this board, coupled with my current year 12's finishing off their HSC, I thought it would be a good time to offer my services to upcoming year 12's.

I am currently an unbonded UNSW medicine/arts student who achieved a UAI above 99 in the HSC and am keen to extend my knowledge onto you. I achieved top bands in all 8 of my HSC subjects - Advanced and Extensions I and II English, Mathematics and Maths extension, chemistry, modern and extension history. However, I will only be offering maths, history and English tutoring, with my specialties being with the histories and English (as you might be able to tell with me pursuing a degree in Arts as well as Medicine!)

SUBJECTS OFFERED

English (Standard): Belonging (Skrzynecki), Shoe-Horn Sonata, Witness and The Story of Tom Brenan.
English (Advanced): Belonging (Skrzynecki), Frankenstein/Bladerunner, Speeches and Julius Caesar.
English Extensions One and Two: Only if you really need it.
Modern History: WWI, Germany, Albert Speer and Pacific Conflict.
Extension History: What is History? (Herodotus, Bede, Polybius, Levy, von Ranke, Elton, Carr, Windschuttle, etc.) and Queen Elizabeth I (Haigh, Bassnett, etc.)

I am also available for any last-minute revision you might want to do before your HSC in 2-3 weeks.

EXPERIENCE

This year, I have had plenty of experience in teaching the new HSC Advanced and Standard English courses. I had a total of five (4 HSC and 1 preliminary) students I helped out, with two of them coming first in their cohorts, another two top-ten and a top-twenty finish. Furthermore, I have helped two students with Modern History, with one coming first in their cohort and the other coming third. Perhaps my proudest achievement would be helping an English student raising his rank from 120-something/132 to 74/132.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

I like to think that I've got what it takes to be a good communicator. I was school captain of my school, a public speaker and debator, and also had the privilege of being elected as first year representative for my year in the UNSW Medsoc.

RATES AND LOCATION

I charge $50 for 1.5 hours (negotiable) for new students. I can tutor from my home in Cabramatta or UNSW.

A FINAL NOTE

I wish everybody future success with the HSC. I know that it may be daunting but if you apply yourself and achieve your personal best, that's all that matters.
