Examples: Not in the sense that "oh she's wearing, I must as well! I think we're all semi dictated that fashion, especially the girls. On one hand I can say that I'll look at Rihanna, who I personally find her tastes pretty cool, and go "damn that dress looks great I want it!" but I won't wear the style if it simply doesn't suit me.

Before I finish, what do you mean by influence though? Say Paris Hilton, I dislike her immensely. If I said negative, she doesn't have a negative influence on me does she? As in I said she had a negative influence on me, it would be moreso the subject. If she influenced the way I acted, THAT is a negative influence, however I myself wouldn't know it?

Or do you merely mean how I perceive her.

Examples: My 3 year old cousin, who loves the Wiggles, is constantly singing and dancing. Lots of young kids want to have the same career as the celebrities they admire, and if they see them with a specific brand of clothes, mobile phone etc, will want to go out and buy it.

Examples: Society is celebrity obsessed. With no celebrities, we wouldn't have this attitude. Also, had you asked a bunch of 13 year olds about 5 years ago what their attitude towards the US was, they wouldn't have a clue. 13 year olds today are inclined to have an anti-American attitude, because lots of celebrities have started speaking out against the Bush government, the war in Iraq etc. Admittedly, most kids still don't actually have a clue about politics, but they're becoming more politcally minded.

Examples: Materialism, anyone? I know girls who idolise Paris Hilton etc, and think that it's basically high treason to wear clothes more than once. As in ever, not just before they get washed.

Examples: I'm in two minds about this - society is a lot looser about sleeping with people outside marriage etc now, but I don't think that's the fault of celebrities. That being said, when people who kids idolise have a new boyfriend/girlfriend every other week, it's hardly going to make them think that sleeping around is a bad thing.

Examples: I have to admit, I modelled my last hair cut on Avril Lavigne's hair, because I thought it looked cool. And seeing a celebrity wearing a certain outfit will make a lot of people want to wear it, because they looked "so hot". Although, like most things related to fashion and celebrities, I tend to find that's mostly girls

Question 6 - Why does being under 18 exclude me from being able to talk about Kurt Cobain's influence on society? I could have had fun with that
Oprah has a positive influence on society, because she actively does things with charities, and encourages other people to do the same, which gets lots of people and organisations much needed exposure and help.
Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears have a negative influence on society, because aside from the fact that they all make bad music, they provide horrible role models for young girls. Although, in all fairness, Britney and Lindsay have lived most of their lives as celebrities, very much under public scruitiny, which probably doesn't help produce well balanced people. And don't get me started on how much better off Britney could have been with a different mother.
The others, as far as I'm aware, haven't really done anything, except for do what they do, and make teenage girls drool, so they don't have an influence on society as such. This might be because of of the males tending to be less influenced by celebrities, and them being male.

Question 7 - I think Bono has a massive influence on society. A lot of people respect him because of U2's musical career, and he uses this as an opportunity to raise awareness of so many important issues, like poverty, war etc.

Overall - I think that being female has had a huge impact on the way I answered this survey, because females tend to be much more influenced by celebrities than males. Going to an all girls school, I see this a lot, so I'm pretty biased.
