Gladly to help here. ive worked at maccas for 3 and a bit yrs now n im juz about to turn 18. Ur wage depends if you are a casual worker (which most crew are and so am i), part- time (if u get a set amount of hours a week n its usually at a lower rate than casuals) or full time which has diff rates and advantages again. For a causal worker, wages dont increase after 5 in the arvo, juz if u work after midnite, in which u wood get time and a half... as a 17 y.o my wage is $9.55 an hour n time n a half on a sunday, plus u have to add casual loading which is usually about 50cents for every hour u work, and it can add up ill tell u... i think as an 18 y.o we will get around $10-$11 an hour but im not sure exactly, ill get bak to u on that one. Crew trainers get about 50cents extra an hour, but u woodnt start off being one of those straight away, its something u gotta work towards.

Hope thats helped you and enjoy working at maccas its not like work more a big social meeting... i luv it n hope u will 2!!!

Any other questions just post them and ill gladly respond.

There are plenty of other places to work other than maccas if you wanted to get a job that is worth your time. They pay the base minimum state award wages, i.e. you can get no lower pay without it being illegal.

Most other places will be more than willing to expand on what they are prepared to give you if you tell them that you were offered another job, but were unhappy about the pay amount (or lack thereof).

Personally I would never work at Maccas - it's dirty and repetitive work (I know many people who work there, the common opinion is that it is demeaning).
My working is mon-fri, and I socialise on my weekends. I find it hard to believe also that someone could enjoy flipping burgers for a period any longer than about ten minutes. But that's my personal opinion.

See if you can get a job doing something you enjoy -- have a look around your local shopping centre, they always have staff wanted signs in the shop windows.

i know people who have been at maccas 1-3 years as well.. obviously its not about the pay.. it seems like a cohesive work environment and they must have fun working there
for someone looking for their first job, of course its going to be boring and repetitive! they are unskilled and obviously cant go straight into management or anything.. if u work in a clothes store its always folding, unpacking and serving people.. in a food shop its cooking, cleaning and serving.. in a restaurant its serving and cleaning.. in a supermarket it would just be constant serving, packing or stacking.. all jobs have their strengths and weaknesses but i wouldnt say mcdonalds is the worst
but yeh it is true that if u can show commitment to mcdonalds for an extended period of time (not working there for 2 months and shoving it into ur resume), there is a stronger chance at getting a job, as in the people there should be being paid more but they still stick it out.. its a good indication that you are willing to commit to your workplace

I think Maccas is just perceived to be the worst by stereotypes.. generally the job taken up by 'young pimplefaced unskilled teenagers' etc.. so really it's the same deal with places like KFC etc.

they'd have to really want you for that, with the amount of peopel going for jobs i think most places would tell the person to get stuffed and find someone else.
