Q.20 A particle travels in a straight line with velocity v at time t. If the velocity of the particle is given by v = 2 / sqrt(1 - x^2), for 0 < x < 1, then the acceleration is given by? I picked D. 2x / (1-x^2)^2 Right or wrong? A body of mass 10kg, at rest on a rough horizontal surface, is acted on by a force of magnitude 14N acting at an angle of 30 degrees to the horizontal. If the body is on the point of moving, the coefficient of friction between the body and the surface is equal to? I picked B. sqrt(3)/14 Right or wrong? I'd like working too thanku ![]() Also i think i got full marks for short answer except for 3b. where i cant remember what i did. Last edited by rabdog; 31 Oct 2005 at 6:13 PM. |

11 Jun 2007, 9:27 AM ![]() | scan please ![]() Q10 was |z-1| + |z+1| = 3 because that is an elipse, not a circle Q20 cant remember the last one, sqrt3 / 14 was right

9 Feb 2007, 2:53 AM ![]() | also.... the last question for short answer... did anyone get a whole number?? because if you use their 0.41 friction rather than your exact answer you get a decimal value answer.... is that acceptable?? to use 0.41 rather than ur exact?? i gave it in exact form T = something - 0.41(something) rather than expressing it to decimal places... would i be marked wrong?? |

| ert | what is the answer to 28? someone said A and someone said B?? how is the answer to 20. E? if you differentiate you get dv/dx = 2x / (1 - x^2)^(3/2) and dv/dx is not acceleration v * dv/dx ios acceleration and v = 2 / sqrt(1 - x^2) so v * dv/dx = 4x / (1 - x^2)^2 .:. C is correct Fuck fuck fuck. I wish i could have remember that in the exam just thought of it then.I guess not many students would have got that correct since you guys didnt havent seen anyone that got it right yet |

9 Feb 2007, 2:53 AM ![]() | hey so would putting down a decimal place rather than an exact be accepted for the last question asking for Tension. they didnt ask for decimal or exact... but i use 0.41 from their previous answer and got a decimal if you keep it in exact form ...you are suppose to get 81 exact... |

That the force is a "push" or a "pull" if you used a pull, answer is A, if you used a push, answer is C. The answer is B if you didn't consider the change in N due to the force, so B is ALWAYS wrong. I think the most arguable answer is by far A, but my friend is really pushing C still :P |

They therefore have to accept a solution to 2 decimal places for 5.b. | |
