I don't think you'd be allowed to do it anyway, I think there is a 6 month waiting period before you can re-sit a STAT test.

For those considering the RET, it really is a great opportunity simply because it gives you the STAT (which is needed for Pharmacy/Veterinary at USYD + will be useful when you're a mature age student if something happens) as well as an opportunity to practically assure yourself uni entry into the majority of UWS's degrees. And when you consider that UWS has both a law school and a medicine school now, well that is a considerable opportunity indeed.

Re: UWS RET Test!

Withstanding that, it really is though a great way to maximise your chances of an offer should your UAI not reach the cutoff. $135 is not much for something that could improve your chances of an offer--you've reached Year 12, and unless yuo really don't have an extra $135, you might as well make your Year 12 count for something--enabling you tertiary admission, and the greater the chance of an offer, the better.

Why yes it does actually.:)
What courses can I apply for with RET?

You can apply for a place in any UWS undergraduate award course offered through UAC except those listed below, as additional selection criteria apply.

For information on courses and cut-offs, please refer to Table 1 and Part 2 of the UAC 2007 Guide (available July 2006).

The following courses are NOT available through RET as additional selection criteria apply:

UAC Code Course
704200 B Health Science (Nursing)
705600 B Laws (Graduate Entry)
705625 B Laws (Graduate Entry)
705650 B Laws (Non-Graduate Entry)
707325 B Early Childhood Studies (Child and Family)
707885 B Performance
708175 B Electronic Arts
708200 B Fine Arts
708225 B Music

Re: UWS RET Test!

I completed the STAT test and regardless that I did not need it, it would have ensured that I got into a university course if I did stuff up my HSC.

The RET which uses the STAT is for UWS only, and while there are often other flexible entry schemes at other unis there is no RET equivalent. The STAT itself can however be used for mature aged entry to most universities as well as being a criterion of entry into USyd's BPharm & BVetSci.

Re: UWS RET Test!

The RET test is simply a question of effort. Are you going to get above 90 UAI? If yes dont take it. If you think you might be getting around 80 UAI then take it. Law at UWS was 85 this year and med is cut off at 92. So if you want a sure entry do it.

PS I realise that neither Law nor Med are 'covered' on the RET test, its just that they are the degrees with the highest entrance mark.

Re: UWS RET Test!

There are no past papers available. But they do send you a sample paper along with your confirmation letter after you pay for it.

Re: UWS RET Test!

You can't really study for it. It's like a basic skills test (remember year 3 and year 5 :p).
