12 May 2009, 7:56 AM ![]() | Italian by distance education You can hide this advertisement by registering. HiDoes anyone on here [currently] do Italian by distance ed (Open High School)...I don't, but I did have to for Years 9 (2006) and 10 (2007). I actually quite enjoyed the freedom of it, having the free periods and all. Does anyone do it for senior Italian and how does it work? Are you allowed to go home in frees allocated for Italian, like do you get to choose between Italian and your actual frees and decide what time will be used for what??? And, also - if you have any general thoughts about Preliminary HSC & HSC Italian (Beginners, Continuers and Extension), post your thoughts on here and we can discuss them. If you want a friend to talk to (Ital or Eng, doesn't matter), add me: ital101@live.com.au (I am of an Italian background, from Firenze) Sono di Firenze, in la Toscana. Va bene, ciao ciao a tutti! - Rico

18 Sep 2009, 7:20 PM ![]() | Re: Italian by distance education I did italian beginners last year by Open High School. I hated it, but since you've already done some Italian by distance you can obviously handle the isolation and whatnot. My teacher was super nice though. My friend did french continuers by distance after having done beginners in year 9 and ten and she found that the hardest part was the HUGE difference between the beginners and continuers course in terms of difficulty. There is a huge difference between how hard the beginners course is and then the level of difficulty and the expectation that Open High School teachers have of continuers students. I also had two free lines as well as my italian line on my timetable so my supervisor (the librarian) was quite happy for me to use whatever time i wanted to for my italian as long as i used at least seven or eight lessons a week on that and that he didn't see me wasting my time. He also made sure that I took advantage of my phone lessons. Which is an excellent idea.
