Computer studies teaching

Hi

I'm interested in being a secondary computer teacher. I'm looking at doing B Teaching/B Design and Technology (doing Computing Studies and Graphics/Multimedia as my majors) Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Design & Technology / Program Handbook / The University of Newcastle, Australia

Just a couple of questions though. I suppose it would depend on the school, I can't remember how it was at my high school... do the computer teachers teach anything else? Like, if I'm doing that, will I have to teach other D&T subjects (woodwork, food tech etc)?

Is anyone else doing a similar degree?

Re: Computer studies teaching

It depends on the school...some may ask you to teach subjects not covered in your studies or specialisation.

But no, you wont have to teach D&T unless you wanted to, and took permission from the school you are working at, and in that case, they may grant you permission, or refuse...and once again it depends on the school you are working at.

If you want to know which subjects you are eligible to teach with your uni qualification you need to e-mail your uni for further info.
